VIETNAM - A MARITIME GATEWAY
Vietnam has more than 100 ports and harbors with a combined length of 22,000 meters of quays, above 1 million square meters of warehouses, and over 2.2 million square meters of yards. 90% of Vietnam’s goods are transported by sea. The quantity of freight moved via Vietnam’s seaports has increase by an average of 12% annually. However, as the ports in Vietnam are currently insufficient to match its rapid economic growth, the prospect for growth and expansion in this industry is tremendous.
The Ministry of Transport has announced plans to invest US$4.5bn on port infrastructure in Vietnam. The thousands of islands surrounding Vietnam and the 3,200km of coastline bordering the country holds great promise for leisure boating. Marine tourism is a key driver for many developing boating markets, and Vietnam has all of the essential drivers for this business.
